Curt Powered Tail Light Converter Installation - 2023 Dodge Hornet- Video

Hello, neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer, and today, we're taking a look and installing the Curt universal four-pole trailer wiring harness on a 2023 Dodge Hornet. If you have a hitch on your Hornet, or if you ever plan on pulling a trailer, I highly recommend picking up four-pole trailer wiring. Even if you don't plan on pulling anything, it's really nice to be able to have this here just in case, maybe you move a little utility trailer, whatever it may be, you'll be able to get those light functions working, keeping you safe and legal, and the way this works, you'll have your four-pole plug that can live here with the dust cap on your hitch, and you'll just plug that into the trailer whenever you're ready to go, but this ties into your factory light signals, so you're gonna get that running light, turn signal, and brake light. Now this system is fuse-protected, as well as module-protected, so even though you're tying into your factory taillights, you don't really have to worry too much about it causing any issues long-term, and this is a universal kit, meaning, we're gonna be quick-splicing into some of those connections, which, you don't have to be a wiring guru to do. It's pretty straightforward. You are gonna need to run a power wire underneath the vehicle up to the battery, which can get a little bit tricky, but, honestly, I think that's the hardest part. more

Any wiring to your vehicle is going to allow you, when pulling a trailer, to get light signals transferred from your vehicle back to the trailer so that you're legal and safe. Also, if you maybe put a cargo carrier on and adding the cargo on covers your lights, some cargo carriers allow you to add lights on. Adding those lights on, giving you the 4-pole plug, will allow you to get those lights, again, back to the outside of your cargo carrier so that, again, you're legal and safe. Today, I'm going to walk through how to install the Curt four-pole wiring harness on your 2015 Dodge Grand Caravan, anywhere into your vehicle is going to allow you to pull a trailer or anything for that mirror that needs light functions to be sent from the vehicle so that you're legal and safe. It's going to give you your proper lighting functions, your brake lights, your turn signals, and your running lights. It's going to have a converter box on it. So it's going to protect your factory wiring from any back-feed from the trailer. If there's a wiring issue, it's going to give you three amps per circuit for your stop and turn signals and six amps per circuit for your taillights. more

This vehicle wiring harness is going to provide your trailer with all the necessary lighting. This includes the left turn signal, right turn signal, tail lamps, and brake lamps, so you'll be DOT compliant in all states.One of the nicest things about this harness is that is has a module that will intercept the signals at each of your left and right tail lamp assemblies. It'll see those signals and then generate its own signal and send it back here to our connector. This module has its own dedicated power circuit that is fused so if there's any faults on your trailer, the fuse will just open to our module and it won't affect any of your vehicle wiring. So you can correct your trailer's faults and then just replace the fuse and you're ready to get back on the road.There's a dust cap located on the end to help keep out any dirt and debris when you're not using it. more

This wiring harness kit is going to provide you with the four pole flat connector that you can hook to your trailer, to provide all the necessary lighting. It'll live inside your trunk. You can have it all bundled up, and when you're ready to use it, just unbundle it, drape it over the back, connect it to your trailer, and it'll smash between your weather stripping on your trunk here, which has got a nice cushion, so it won't damage any of the wires.Since it normally lives inside the vehicle, that'll help prevent corrosion that normally occurs on one outside the vehicle. If you do just leave it outside your trunk hanging down, it does have a dust collector to help keep out that road grime. It does also have a nice dust cap to keep any kind of dirt and debris out of the connector. However, when we're not using it, we can open up our trunk and we can store it inside of our trunk, since it is going to stay on the inside of the vehicle. This wiring harness will allow you to safely and legally tow a trailer, because on the right side of it we have our four-pole flat connector, and this gives us the basic lighting functions that are required by law and will refer us to safely and legally tow a trailer. We'll have our turn signals, our brake lights, our taillights, and our running lights, as well as the necessary ground connection that we need between our Durango and our trailer for everything to work properly.On one side of our connector, we have a seven-way connector here, and this gives you all the lighting functions that the four-pole had, plus reverse light output function, an electric brake controller output function, and also a 12-volt charge line kit. Now that we've seen the end result, let's go ahead and show you how we got it installed.To begin our installation, we're going to need to open up our rear hatch to gain access to our taillights. We're going to have a few fasteners holding our taillight in, and they're just going to be plastic push pins, so I'm going to take a flat head screwdriver and come to the notch, and pop out the center section of the push pin first, which is going to take some tension off. Once you have that center section popped out, you should be able to work the clip out, and then we can pop the rest of the clip out. more

Today on our 2012 Dodge Durango we're going to be taking a look at the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-pole flat trailer connector, part number 118552. Here's what our wiring looks like fully installed. It is going to stay on the outside of the vehicle at all times, so since it is going to be staying on the outside of the vehicle, it's going to have that cover so we don't have to worry bout any dirt and debris getting in there, as well as we can hook it onto our hitch and it's going to be ready for us whenever we're ready to tow. As you can see, you're going to have plenty of wire to hook up to your trailer and when you're finished, you can just hook your dust cap around your hitch, and then it'll be ready for you. This kit is going to allow you to tow your trailer with all the proper lighting, but also protect your vehicle in case there is an issue on the trailer end, it's not going to back=feed and do any damage to your vehicle's lighting system. Now that we've gone over some of these features, let's show you how to get it installed. To begin our installation we're going to need to open our back hatch and we're going to be removing our taillights. If we come to our taillights, we're going to have two small tabs here, I'm just going to be using a flathead screwdriver to pop that center section out. Just like that and we're going to repeat the same process for this one down here, and the other two on our other taillight. more

Today on our 2017 Dodge Durango, we're going to take a look at, and also show you how to install the Curt T connector vehicle wiring harness with the four pull flat trailer connector. Part number is C55515. This is what our wiring harness is going to look like when we pull it out of the package, really nice, straightforward, easy install here. Basically we've got a plug here, this is going to go right into our factory prep package, we'll show you where to find that in just a moment. It's going to take those signals, running it through our wire, and it's going to leave us with right turn, and brake, left turn, and brake, running lights, and also ground. This is going to work out good for cargo carriers, it's going to work out good for trailers. Also, we're going to have a protective dust cap, that's going to go around the end and protect it against moisture, or dirt getting in the plug. more
